Privacy Policy & FAQ
Overview
TypingProo is designed to collect as little data as possible. We believe a typing tool should work without knowing who you are. No account is required, and no personal data is sent to our servers.
Data We Do Not Collect
- Your name, email address, or any personal identifier
- Your IP address (beyond what Cloudflare's CDN logs by default)
- The text you type during tests
- Any payment information (TypingProo is free)
Data Stored Locally in Your Browser
TypingProo stores the following data in your browser's localStorage — this data never leaves your device:
- Personal bests: WPM and accuracy scores per test mode
- Daily challenge results: One entry per day, stored as
daily_YYYY-MM-DD - Keyboard heatmap: Aggregated key timing and error data
- Theme preference: Dark/light mode setting
- Settings: Font size, caret style, sound preferences
- Story progress: Chapter and segment progress per book
You can clear all this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate site traffic — how many people visit, which pages are most popular, and what devices they use. GA4 collects anonymised, aggregated data. We do not use it to track individual users.
You can opt out of GA4 tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Google AdSense
TypingProo may display Google AdSense advertisements to support its free operation. Google may use cookies to serve personalised ads based on your visit to this and other websites. You can opt out via Google's Ad Settings.
Cloudflare
TypingProo is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may log anonymised request metadata (such as country-level location and device type) as part of its standard CDN operation. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.
Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because we collect no personal data linked to you as an individual, most GDPR and CCPA rights (access, deletion, portability) are automatically satisfied — there is nothing to retrieve or delete on our end. If you have any concerns, contact us at helpandsupport0@gmail.com.
Children
TypingProo does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. The site contains no registration flow and collects no personal data from any user.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of TypingProo after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
What is Typing Speed (WPM)?
Words per minute (WPM) measures how many words you can type accurately in 60 seconds. The standard formula counts every 5 characters as one "word" — so typing 300 correct characters in a minute equals 60 WPM.
Why Typing Speed Matters in 2026
Whether you're a student submitting assignments, a developer writing code, or a professional answering emails, faster typing saves hours every week. At 40 WPM vs 80 WPM you literally get twice as much done for the same effort.
Average Typing Speed by Age & Profession
| Group | Average WPM |
|---|---|
| Casual typist (adult) | 40–50 WPM |
| Student | 35–45 WPM |
| Office worker | 50–65 WPM |
| Developer / programmer | 60–80 WPM |
| Professional typist | 80–100+ WPM |
| World record | 212 WPM (Guinness) |
How to Improve Your Typing Speed
- Practice daily — even 10 minutes a day compounds over weeks.
- Look at the screen, not your fingers. Touch-type from day one.
- Use the keyboard heatmap to find your problem keys.
- Start slow and accurate; speed follows naturally.
- Try Story Mode for longer, relaxed sessions.
- Challenge yourself with a daily typing session.
